Cambodia Gambling Dens
June 1st, 2024 by Kirsten

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where casino gambling is illegal. Eight casinos are based in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime destination, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and despite the fact visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty table games. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that features many amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
