Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino wagering is not allowed. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect location, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, investment sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is real of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling hall, contains 150 slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel compound that features numerous amenities aside from the gambling den, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 gaming tables.
