Cambodia Gambling Dens
August 31st, 2019 by Kirsten

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where casino gambling is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and although visas are allegedly required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau casino, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six table games, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel complex that highlights a number of comforts aside from the gambling den, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
