Cambodia Casinos

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is not legal. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect spot, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, investment sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 1700, and even though visas are apparently required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge casino, highlights 150 slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga casino is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the common table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel complex that features a number of conveniences on top of the casino, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
