Cambodia Gambling Halls
November 7th, 2016 by Kirsten

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where casino gambling is prohibited. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect area, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; still, investment sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 1700, and although visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is real of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machines and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel compound that features many amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 table games.
