Cambodia Gambling Halls
December 18th, 2015 by Kirsten

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which casino betting is not legal. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that highlights many conveniences accompanying the gambling den, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
